North Ogden Divide SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
UDOT and Weber County are working together on a safety improvements project on
the North Ogden Divide. This project includes replacing the existing concrete barrier
with a guardrail and widening the roadway on a 700‐foot section on the east side of the
Divide. New signs and striping are also planned for this section. Rock scaling will take
place to remove some of the loose rock falling onto the roadway. Efforts are being made
to speed construction as much as possible to minimize impacts to the public.
ANTICIPATED CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE
• Construction may begin as early as July 2010.
• Construction will take approximately 30‐60 calendar days.
• The roadway will be closed 24/7 until construction is complete.
• It is anticipated that construction will be finished near the end of August 2010.

Water Conservation Tips - Water conservation measures are an important first step in
protecting our water supply. Such measures not only save the supply of our source water, but
can also save you money by reducing your water bill. Here are a few suggestions.
Conservation measures you can use inside your home include:
·Fix leaking faucets, pipes, toilets, etc.
·Replace old fixtures; install water-saving devices in faucets, toilets, and appliances.
·Wash only full loads of laundry.
·Do not use the toilet for trash disposal.
·Take shorter showers.
·Do not let the water run while shaving or brushing teeth.
·Soak dishes before washing.
·Run the dishwasher only when full.
You can conserve outdoors as well:
·Water the lawn and garden in the early morning or evening.
·Use mulch around plants and shrubs.
·Repair leaks in faucets and hoses.
·Use water-saving nozzles.
·Use water from a bucket to wash your car, and save the hose for rinsing.
Information on other ways that you can help conserve water can be found at
When to water - It may surprise you to learn that lawn watering uses nearly half of the water
around homes. That’s because everyone wants a great-looking yard. Attractive lawns and
landscapes not only improve your home’s property value, but they also provide a constant
source of pleasure and pride. Here’s the good news: maintaining a great looking lawn
doesn’t have to conflict with water-wise conservation and irrigation practices. In fact, with a
bit of planning, the two go hand in hand. Turf studies have shown that most lawns only need
to be watered once every 3 to 4 days to stay healthy and green. Watering everyday creates
shallow roots. Watering infrequently develops deep roots and healthier turf. Grass roots
grow deeper into the soil and become stronger with less watering. If grass does not spring
back after being stepped on, it’s time to water. Water only when needed. Remember you
are asked not to water between 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. daily.
